I think this was K1's first excursion of the year. Neighbourhood was their theme and excursion was to Bedok Central. Three days before the excursion, I received a phone call from En's teacher to ask I could go with them on the excursion as a parent volunteer. Although two days before the P5 Camp was a very hectic time last year when I was in the Event Comm, camp this year was a much more relaxed, even leisurely event; I only had to help out for the main scoreboard the next day, so I happily accepted the teacher's request.
As usual, I would not be tagging along the class of my child, and I was assigned to help out with Gan Eng Seng class, where En's favourite Lucas boy, Caleb and Briyana were! (:
Gan Eng Seng's teacher, Miss Alice, was a rather experienced and confident teacher; she was able to capture the attention of most children most of the time. I had a most enjoyable time with Gan Eng Seng talking to the children, especially during their tea break.. There was even a couple of them who kept talking to me that they almost could not finish their cheese buns! Hahaa..
Similar to most of the children, my favourite time there was at the playground! As it was a pretty big playground with rather high structures, I was quite worried when some GES children wanted to walk the bars up to take the slides as some of them were obviously not confident at all especially nearing the end. So I park myself at the base and took it upon myself to guide and encourage the children to complete their climb.
An obvious advantage to being a parent volunteer despite with a different class, was to be able to catch a lil' of my En in the excusion in the action. En claimed to have seen me at the playground although she never come forward to greet me. Anyway, she would not have the guts to walk up those bar-steps to take the slides.
I managed to take a couple of pictures of En's class.. Oh, i almost forgotten, I actually shared En's seat with Ailing on the bus both ways. So I did bond with En too during this excursion! (:
