Ling's birthday : Oct-13

Within the family, it is not usual that every birthday person will have two birthday cakes, cut separately at Papa’s and our place.  I think this is considered a bonus since most of the family members enjoy eating cake except myself.  This year we do the same during Ling’s birthday with the first session at Papa’s place.  Since Ally is born, I has adopted the habit to bring my camera whenever we go to Papa’s place and when Ally is “cooperative”, I will be able to capture some good shots of her along with the rest.  On this occasion, I take the advantage to ‘maximize’ my camera value and also took shots of Ling with the rest of the family members, capturing the memories.

Part two: cake cutting at home…

En'en practising Hula Hoop : Oct-13

I believe every girl will inevitably undergo the stage where she urges to learn hula hoop, at least all my three gals do. Watch Qi and Xuan on Hual Hoop in 2008 and watch En'en below.

A family dinner : Oct-13

Since mummy's passing I did not remember the entire family had gathered for a dinner in a restaurant.  It had been more than 3 years now, and we had extended the family with Dor's family and Ally!

Ifu-Dodo Fan dance practise and rehearsal : Oct-13

It had been a long while to see our gals dancing together for Kosen-rufu.  Before En’en was born, Qi and Xuan had performed a “frog” dance in several district and chapter meetings and En’en was always amazed and envious while watching the video, hoping to be a part of it. This year, the chance finally came.  During our General Meeting (Eunos West), the gals would be performing again.. This time including En’en!  It would be a fan dance for the gakkai Ifu-dodo song.

The gals had their first practise session on the 18-Oct-13 (Fri) at HQ, then following a rehearsal at MTA on 20-Oct-13 (Sun).  Qi and Xuan did not have issues learning the dance steps despite joining the team after several training sessions later.  Qi definitely danced with better flare with her many years of dance experience while Xuan struggled to put off her artist embarrassment and bring out a dance smile.  Our little En’en also diligently and joyfully tried her best to follow suit with the rest.

With Hong as our choreographer cum trainer and the rest of the family as audience, this dance would definitely bring great joy and family bonding.  Looking forward to 09-Nov-13, our Eunos West General Meeting, our victory!

Cleaning the car headlights : Oct-13

I always remembered a quote which said "When you never try, you never know"... while I guessed in life, this quote would apply to us constantly and depending on the level of risk and belief we had, would determine our course of actions that we would take too.

 Before Cleaning

Cleaning in progress

 After Cleaning

For several months now, my car headlights had become blurred and looked 'gloomy' and 'lifeless'.  Qiqi really did not like the sight of them and neither did I.  So she googled together with her mummy to find a cheaper alternative to clean up my car headlights.  Many sources indicated toothpaste could do a good job and since this would involve very minimum risk, we acted pretty promptly to try it out.  The effect turned out quite well, in a short 10 to 15 minutes, we were able to clean up the oxidation on my headlights and let them regain 'life'.  Good try!

Reveal of my grey hair again : Oct-13

It was my second attempt to stop dyeing my hair and let them grew freely without any chemical.  The first attempt was backed in 2009, the general feedbacks were I looked much older than my dark coloured hair. Xuan’s friend even commented that I looked like her grandfather when I fetched her from school one day.  After a good few months,  I dyed back my hair following Qi and Xuan persistence.
From the day I started dyeing my hair, I did not feel the fruit of ‘looking young’ was more than the tedious dyeing process.  Every month I would need to promptly ensure the ‘chemicals’ were available and dyed my hair right after my haircut.  I guessed the time incurred was secondary, what worried me a bit was the chemical that I constantly applied to my scalp and the harm to my brains?  I probably did not have a straight answer to my worry, nevertheless it just did not feel natural.

So after a good four years break, I decided to ‘reveal’ my grey hair again.  There were several surprises among some new friends, and I managed to ‘change manage’ them with a sense of humour.  Maybe through these four years, multiple wrinkles had also grown which better synchronized with my grey hair, making me looked better in grey now.  Anyway, It was a nice experience again to have an “extreme” outlook change… let’s see how long it could long this time round.

A New Breakfast Idea -- Raw Overnight Oats : Oct-13

For a pretty long while, the girls and Victor had been very cooperative and obliging, finishing their cooked oats breakfast till almost the last spoon. For many months, I had been replenishing organic rolled oats by packets of two or more every other time I visited the supermarket! It was rather easy, not having to be creative with breakfast. It was healthy. Cooked oats with raw honey and cinnamon powder.

Nevertheless the good times finally ce to an end when Qi protested, "I don't want to eat oats!" Then Xuan's black face also surfaced.. Even En refused to down more oats.. With only Victor maintaining his silence. I guess we all heard oats will help reduce cholesterol level, isn't it? Victor's level is very high! Ha, so he had no choice!! (><)

Thereafter I was buying spreads--peanut butter, kaya, Nutella, butter, for breakfast with bread loaf. That is to supplement the morning juice for Qi and En; Xuan is strangely very full even only after downing a 6-ounce juice!? Victor eats his daily fruits in the office.

THEN, I came across this lady who raved and raved about overnight oats (http://www.katheats.com/favorite-foods/overnig
htoats).

I juz have to try it out!! As usual, Victor was very supportive, especially after I told him how someone shared that his cholesterol level reduced markedly after consuming raw oats for a few months!!
