Kotekitai Spring V Concert : Mar-12

pic: Aunty Cecilia, Bernice, Qi, & their youngest sisters Blanche & En

Ever since I graduated from Kotekitai, i have never attempted to contact anyone in Kotekitai.  Nor did I have any serious intention to enroll any of my girls in Kotekitai.. But this year, Qi's good friend Bernice is performing in the Kotekitai Spring Concert and Qi kept bugging me to bring her!  So we went, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the performance they have put up! (^_^)
Hmm.. maybe putting the girls in Kotekitai may be a good idea afterall!

2012 PD P5 Camp : Mar-12

1o years into PD, it is finally my second daughter's turn to participate in the PD Camp!!  Though Xuan is indisputably in the upper primary now, this year is my very first time taking a lower primary class.. in fact, i have a handful of primary one children!  Hahaa.. p1 children are juz two years older than En, in other words, very young.

Well, I would have absolutely no business in this year's P5 camp as none of my cubs is participating, if not for Xuan.  After going through intensively two camps within a short period of three months last year and particularly involved in both talent items with Hong as the trainer, the campfire talent item has became a personal pet project!  Way before any sunshine aunty had requested or before any decision was made on the talent item for class 6, I already pre-empted and tried to book Hong's timing for the weekend before the camp and a couple of weekdays leading to the camp.  As Xuan was in the camp, it must be a most memorable one for her!  The dance performance and practices had augmented the bonds and friendship amongst the cubs for both of last year's camps, that I was prepared to greatly recommend a dance item for this year as well, of course with Hong as the trainer again!  Turned out that our cubs performed their dance so well that they emerged the champion of the campfire talent item!!

Glad to say that Xuan did thoroughly enjoy herself at the camp and even asked if there will be another one!

En's Homemade Salon-style Hairdo : Mar-12

One day, Qi came home and exclaimed that her chinese dance seniors who took part in DanceWorks! actually paid $25 each to a hairstylist to tie their hair into four braids!!

Juz wanting to prove that she can do it, that very evening, En was made to be her model cum guinea pig.  After lots of sweet talking and  cajoling, scolding and even threatening Qi finally completed her work on En's head - eight neat braids!!  Gosh, those braids were so neat and tidy that I don't think I would ever get it!!  Hahaa.. to think Qi's seniors paid $25 for four braids, En would have to pay Qi $50 for eight braids!

Well, I am sure Qi is much better than those stylists as she really braids with her heart, together with lotsa pride and passion!! (^_^)

However.. poor En.. though Qi poured a lot of time and efforts into those eight braids, they were not exactly the most comfortable hairstyle at night, especially nearing bedtime.  Hence much as I tried to persuade En to leave the hairdo intact until the next day, much as En tried to go to sleep with those braids, we have to give up eventually as it was simply too uncomfortable!

Qiqi Chinese Dancing : Mar-12

It has been more than a year since Qiqi joined Chinese Dance in school, and we have never seen her performed before.  Fortunately, Nan Chiau Secondary presents multiple performance at Anchorvale community center this month, and most importantly, Qiqi is in it! The venue has not fixed sitting arrangement, in fact no seats at all... but it gives us the opportunity to move around and watch Qiqi performing at a very close distance.

En's Excursion & My Second Volunteering Stint @ SK : Mar-12

This was my second-time volunteering at SK's excursion.  Similarly, I was assigned to another K1 class other than En's; again I took Caleb's class.(:  We went to Bedok Central this time.

our class found some benches to seat the kids for tea break!
This term's theme was the neighbourhood, that was why the children were brought to Bedok Central where they walked down the corridor of shop houses, and were given brief introduction to the different kinds of shops they saw.  Eg pharmacy, money-changer, shoeshop, medical hall, and so on..

the children munching on their bread in between our chats..
This time round, I had very good chats with the children whom I was attached.  In fact, we chatted so much that many could not finish their buns in time after the assigned break time!! :D

Soka Kindergarten children are indeed very bubbly and vocal!

The highlight of this trip for the children must be the playground!!  It's the first time I see so many children running around so happily and playing so harmoniously at the playground!!

I positioned myself at the ladder of the high slide, helping some kids climb onto the first step, which was pretty high for some of the smaller-built kids.  It was very interesting because I see some of the children were actually rather scared to take the slide, but due to them being very high from all the running and screaming around, they actually juz followed their friends.  So when they were actually at the steps, some withdrew, a couple even cried; I had to encourage and coax.. and I saw a couple even went for second and third rounds! Hahahaa..
En's teachers positioning the children at the playground for photo taking before playtime!!

can u see that the children were more tired as compared to the previous pic?  Hahaa.. this is after playground time!!

my assigned class took a pic juz before assembly at the bus pick-up point

can u find En?

Sweet Potato Soup : Mar-12

We have not had sweet potato soup for a long while.  My first time cooking this too ..

Drinking this soup brings back memories..  when Ah Jia was still around, after she knew Victor likes this soup, we had this dessert soup almost every weekend!  After Ah Jia passed away, Mummy and QQ would also ask to cook this soup occasionally..

Victor still missed the soup Ah Jia personally cooked , the one with the lotsa-ginger-taste.

Lion Dancing Dog (Bauble) : Mar-12

Have you ever seen a lion dancing dog before?  Watch how Bauble moved like a dancing lion, simply awesome!

Soka Kindergarten Open House : Mar-12

Another visit to SK this year to view some of En'en's Masterpieces; A magic wand, a toilet bowl decoration and a king's crown.

A jog together with Xuan : Mar-12

In preparation for Xuan's physical test, I had brought her a new pair of running shoes.  Xuan was excited about testing the shoes out, and so, she joined us on one of our evening jog.  She jogged together with us for 1.8km without stopping, very impressive when she only had to do 1.6km in school.  I never had ran so far when I was her age.

FashionStepsOut@Orchard, Xuan Was There : Mar-12

It was a eye opener for me as it was my first time at a fashion show. So glad that I had the opportunity to go.

It was also the largest fashion held in Singapore.
On that day Fashion literally stopped traffic. They closed down the whole stretch of road for the event.

Before the event, we had nothing to do. Decided to take photos to pass the time.

Pretended to drink red wine. (Yeah its illegal for me to actually drink)
Edited the photo and made me look drunk :P

QQ took my phone and edited this picture.
We were eating when he did this. I think that is where he got
                                                                inspiration.
