Mummy is the Strongest : Mar-09

Last Wednesday must be the day I chanted the most daimoku in a day in my life. Mummy was due to remove her entire left breast and lymph nodes that morning, but was told that her operation has been postponed to the afternoon upon arrival to the hospital at 7am.

Prior to that, I have been chanting hard that Mummy can somehow miraculously recover without the op. I reckon that if it's her karma that causes her breast cancer, if I can chant to successfully transform her karma before the op, the breast cancer would no longer have a role in her life and she will recover. I must have underestimated Mummy's karma, or my efforts & determination were simply not laborious or tenacious enough to accomplish the task. Even though Mummy's op was postponed, she underwent the breast and lymph nodes removal operation eventually. The postponed op definitely offered me more time to chant more for Mummy.

Mummy did not announce her sickness to everyone. When she did tell, some thought she was joking, and yet some preferred to believe that she had struck the Singapore Pools' Toto instead of striking cancer a fourth time. Many had offered to come to her place to chant together with her upon hearing the news, but she gently declined, preferring them to chant for her in their respective homes. We as family had gathered a few times to chant together with Mummy at home. I don't remember another occasion where we all gathered to chant together as family.. must be Ah Jia's funeral.

Fair and frail as Mummy may look, she is much much tougher than most people I dare say. She tells people I am more upset than her at losing a boob, she laughs at how people were surprised over the phone at how loud and 'normal' she sounded as if they had expected to hear a feeble and can't-get-out-of-bed voice. Mummy is walking around the house and watching tv and chanting after her op. She has also taken steps to reduce the intake of the food she has so loved - coffee, sweets and milk, as obviously the cancer cells in her loved them too. We have installed an alkaline water system at home and she has been faithfully drinking that water too. Besides those, we have been and still are actively sourcing for 'ammunition' for Mummy to battle and win those naughty cancer cells. With abundant daimoku, a changed diet and high life condition, we are sure Mummy will be healthy once again soon.

We must forge on, build our stamina along the way, and not let down our guards for even a single moment. We will achieve victory for sure, as a family! Mummy is a fighter, a veteran cancer fighter who will trimph over her breast cancer no doubt about that!

Mummy is chanting hard to transform her karma. At the same time, she has to assure and encourage all around her that she is fine and that we should all just chant for her. Papa is chanting very hard for Mummy too. In fact, I have never seen Papa chanting so seriously so hard and so much before. I am very touched by what I saw.. Papa who always seemed so engrossed in his own world actually chanted, and is still chanting many hours for Mummy despite having to go to school early in the morning and returning only in the evenings.

The detailed report of Mummy's removed tissues will only be out in 2 weeks, but the surgeon has told us that Mummy's followup treatment would be chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy as more than four of Mummy's removed lymph nodes had cancerous cells.

We are now chanting
  • that Mummy must maintain her strong life force and high life condition
  • to transform Mummy's karma,
  • to thoroughly defeat and trimph over the cancer
  • for Gohonzon to arrange the most suitable treatment for Mummy
